This free series consists of eight webinars providing step-by-step forensic science training.
The first webinar on March 2 from noon-2pm is Crime Scene Essentials. This webinar will explain identifying, documenting, processing, preserving and collecting of evidence. Attendees who complete the course will be eligible for free CLE credits.
Topics in this webinar include:
- Preparation
- Protecting and securing the scene
- Preliminary survey
- Evaluating physical evidence including bloodstain pattern analysis, trace evidence, fingerprints, DNA
- Photographing, sketching and diagramming the scene
- Recording and collecting physical evidence
- Release of the scene
- Chain of custody
- Training and certification of crime scene personnel
The eight webinars are designed
for lawyers working on capital cases and will offer step-by-step
training from evaluating the crime scene to defending or prosecuting
death penalty cases in court.
This remarkable series was created by Stetson’s Professor Carol Henderson, an international authority on forensic science in partnership with the Law Enforcement Innovation Center at the University of Tennessee. This webinar series is made possible by a grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Justice.

These webinars are designed for both prosecutors and defense attorneys. Attendees who complete the course will be eligible for free CLE credits (2.0).
